HOW DID YOU COME TO KNOW CHRIST AT DAYBREAK!

Here is your opportunity to help with the big 20th Anniversary Celebration in October. We have a very powerful production element planned for the service, but we need your help. If you accepted Christ here at Daybreak, we want to invite you to participate in a recording session this Saturday, October 3rd, 9:30am-11:30am in the Student Auditorium.

This is NOT a video recording session. We will simply be recording your voice. We will have a photographer on hand who will be taking your photograph that morning, which will also be used in the recording. Here are the details.

Tell us how you came to know Christ at Daybreak in 2-3 sentences. (For Example: “I came forward to accept Christ during the Walk the Line series, and my life’s been changed”. OR “Wes led me to Christ in his office. I have so much peace in my life now.” OR “My friend ___________ invited me to Daybreak. I stood and accepted Christ during the _____________ series.”

WHEN: Saturday, October 3, 9:30am – 11:30am
WHERE: Student Auditorium
We are scheduling 4 minute time slots for recording.

Please contact lindy.hathaway@daybreak.tv to give a general time that works for you. You will receive an email back with your specific time slot.

Also, if someone else in your family accepted Christ here at Daybreak, please invite them to join us. The more the merrier :-) Just give us their name, and we’ll get them scheduled too.

COMMUNITY BLITZ/FOOD DRIVE

cb_1We are hosting another Community Blitz on September 26th.  Community Blitz is a day where you and your family can serve the surrounding community in various ways to show people God’s love. We do this at Daybreak, in the community and through donations.  At Daybreak, we provide a place for these families to come and enjoy a free lunch and pick up some free groceries and winter clothes.

Reminder: Bring back your groceries and gently used clothing this Sunday or next, September 13 or 20.  Simply fill a bag and place it behind your car when you come to a service.  Our team will pick it up when you are inside.  Last year we ran out of groceries for the people of the community.  Help us reach our goal of 100 bags!

OUR LAST NIGHT IN ZAMBIA

Hello Everyone:

This will be our last communication.  It will be difficult to leave but much has been accomplished.  We are anxious to come home and share what we have seen and experienced.

We left Choma Guest House this morning at 7am.  We traveled by bus to Livingstone.  We arrived around 11am and stopped to shop for an hour, then we checked in to the Zig Zag Hotel.  After that we went to Victoria Secret (ooops!) I mean Victoria Falls.  It was quite amazing.  Some of us older and wiser ones rented a rain coat for 5000 Kwatras ($1 US dollar) others got completely soaked.  The falls were breath taking.  They are approximately 1 mile wide and very loud.  Passing over the river near the falls is the bridge to Zimbabwe that is a popular bungee jumping site.

Our shopping was completed this afternoon.  Later tonight we will go out for pizza.  We will start tommorrow at 7am with a game safari where we hope we will see giraffes, wild pigs and other wild life.  At noon we will fly 2 hours to Johannesberg, South Africa, after a 4 hour lay over will will make the 18 hour flight to Atlanta, arriving at just past 8am local time.  After another layover we hope to arrive in GR by 2pm Sunday.

Please pray for a safe journey for us all.  Pray also that we can express the needs that they still have here and that we have the passion to complete what God has started.  All of us our healthy and excited to see our loved ones.

Thank you again for your prayers, support and comments.  We would not have been successful without them.  We can all say that everyone should take a short term mission trip.  It has changed our lives forever.  It has given us a new perspective on God and the world.  We can’t wait to share it when we get home.  We miss you and love you.

A DAY IN MACHA

Hi Everyone:

Our day started early this morning.  We headed out at 6am to go to Frances Davidson High School.  We went with a team from World Hope International Zambia with the Reach4Life leaders.  Reach4Life is a High School ministry that teaches purity and abstinence.  Our job was to teach the leaders from the school so they could lead the others.

Richman, the director of Reach4Life came over last night and mentioned that we were responsible for half of the teaching.  Tom Meyer took charge and planned the program.  He did a fantastic job of teaching the students!

At the end we shared what a big job leadership is and we prayed individually with each student.  We affirmed their decision to lead and prayed for any special needs they had.  The Reach4Life program is incredible.  They have a great book they use.  It is a Reach4Life Bible with all of the lessons they use.  It is done in small groups for 40 weeks.

They will be having a rally in two weeks back in Macha where they will kick off the Reach4Life groups in 2 local high schools.  A team from Kentwood Community Church and Micah Kephart will provide support for the rally.

Thank you again for your prayers, support and responses to the blog.  It has been an important part of what happened here this week.  We will be leaving for Livingstone tommorrow.  We will take on the role of tourist for a day.  We will be checking out Victoria Falls and some of the other sites and stay there overnight.  Then Saturday we will get up and start the long journey home.  I hope that we will get one more chance to blog before we start the journey.  If not, we will see you when we get home!  We love and miss you all!!!
