ROGER KELLEY
Vocation: Structural Engineer at Engineered Structures
Education: Davison High School; Michigan State University (Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering)
Family: Married to Susan for 32 years. Daughter Chelsey (37). Son Kyle (30), married to Sydney; grandson Judah (4). Daughter Anna (27).
We’ve attended Daybreak since 2006.
Hobbies: Fitness, pickleball, having fun.
Where I currently serve at Daybreak: High School small group leader for Daybreak Students (since 2006), Growth Group leader, Men’s study group.
Testimony: I gave my life to Christ as a teenager at Spring Hill Camp, but didn’t fully understand it at the time (I found it written in my Bible later in life). The seed was planted and began to take root. I went to church through high school, but it wasn’t part of my or my family’s lifestyle. I didn’t attend church during college.
After Susan and I got married, we were invited to Eastern Avenue Church and began attending. The seed was sprouting, but a real relationship with Christ still wasn’t there. This continued at Ridgewood CRC when we moved to Hudsonville.
When our kids started complaining about church, we began looking again. Friends invited us to Daybreak, and finally the seed took root—not just in Susan and me, but in our kids as well. My faith grew, and I began building a relationship with Christ through services, small groups, and serving in student ministries and NTS Camp.
I don’t have a specific date, but I fully gave my life to Christ in 2006. Susan and I were baptized together in Lake Michigan in 2008.
DAWN NEWELL
Vocation: Director, Inpatient Rehab Services for Corewell Health
Education: Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (WMU); Executive Master of Business Administration (GVSU)
Family: Married to Kevin for 21 years. Children: Kyle (20) and Addison (14). Dog: Luna (6). We have been attending Daybreak for over 17 years.
Hobbies: Being outside, hiking, reading, playing games with the kids, traveling, watching sports, spending time with family.
Where I currently serve at Daybreak: Elder, Leader of the Usher Team, Prayer Partner, Christmas Village Event Director; Growth Group leader.
Testimony: I grew up in the Christian Reformed Church, attending every Sunday. When I left for college, I believed I didn’t need the church and could follow God on my own. I achieved many goals during that time, but something was always missing.
After Kyle was born, we decided to raise him in church, so we started attending Daybreak. Shortly after, I began serving and joined a small group. A few years later, I was baptized and became a member.
That’s when our family faced significant challenges. We lost our home, our bank account went negative, and our marriage was close to falling apart. During those difficult moments, I realized how much I needed Christ and how much He was waiting for me.
I surrendered everything to God—my marriage, my kids, my job. I could only move forward by trusting and obeying Him. So much good has come from those hard seasons, and I thank God daily for what He has done in my life.
Proverbs 3:5 — “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.”

Testimony:
I was raised in a home where I often felt the need to earn approval. I spent years striving to overcome that, but nothing truly changed until a friend invited me to Daybreak. There, I learned that I am a child of God who loves me and is pleased with me (Matthew 3:17). I surrendered my life to God, and He has transformed every part of it. I publicly declared my faith through baptism on February 15, 2015. Today, I live with freedom, peace, and joy because I know God as a Father who listens, guides, protects, forgives, and walks with me through life.

At age 24, I rededicated my life to have a personal relationship with Him and it changed my life drastically.
DAVID BEEBE
Vocation: Taxidermist, Beebe Wildlife Studios

Hobbies: Family, hunting, fishing, sports & anything that requires working with my hands.
Serving: I have been a leader down in Daybreak Kids for the last 25+ years working with 3rd & 4th graders. I also have been involved with men’s groups & spoke at events like Reset.
Testimony: I wasn’t raised in the church; however, my mother was a believer. I suppose you could call me agnostic for much of my earlier years in life. I didn’t have any men in my life that seemed to be serious about their faith until God dropped some men into my life that I respected greatly. These men challenged my thinking & when Darcie bought me the book A Case for Christ it kick-started my journey of faith. A quote that has stuck with me, “boys make each other comfortable, men make each other better.” I decided to run with the men that are serious about their faith.
